Forum: etree Subject: Ambient sound recordings with copywrited content?

I'm planning on upload some ambient sound recording that i have made, just one question : if you have a recording that is basicly live sound but has copywrited is "the backround", an example of this would be crowd noise with a copywrited song playing is the backround. A more extreme example (and the important one) Rocky Horror Picture Show! in theaters with call lines! there would constantly be copywrited sounds in the backround, but most of the recording would be call lines and general noise.

Gosh, I dont know. Copyright and fair use and all of that is pretty tough going even for the professionals.

Please do what you think is right, and if you can not figure it out, talk to a lawyer... they seem to love this stuff.
